The 5th annual 2-day Tractor Ride in beautiful bluff county is planned for Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17. The Ride is again being sponsored by the Preston Historical Society. The Ride starts and ends each day at the Fillmore County Fairgrounds in Preston with the Fillmore County Fair Board assisting with overnight storage for the tractors.
Registration is $105 for the 2-day tractor ride which includes four meals, a t-shirt, and a picture.
Other options for participation include a 2-day ride in the “people wagon” for those who don’t have a tractor. The cost for a rider is $60 and includes 4 meals and a t-shirt. More options include a one day ride on Saturday for $40 which includes two meals and a t-shirt or a one day ride on Sunday for $30 including two meals and a t-shirt.
For those who would like to view the ride, the tractors will be leaving the Fairgounds in Preston on Saturday, September 16 at 9:00 a.m. going east on County 12 to Hwy 52 and then on to the Henrytown Lutheran Church for the morning break. The ride will leave Henrytown at approximately 10:30 a.m. on route to the Steam Engine Day grounds in Mabel for lunch provided by the Mabel United Methodist Church.
Leaving Mabel at approximately 12:30 the tractors will travel via Hesper to the North Winn School then on to Hwy 52 going through Burr Oak. From there they will travel west to Hwy 139 before stopping for an afternoon break at the former Stateline Methodist Church just off Hwy139 south of Harmony.
The tractors will drive through the parking lot at the Harmony Care Center for the residents to
enjoy at approximately 2:45. Then back to the Fillmore County Fairgrounds in Preston for
On Sunday following breakfast the tractors will proceed out of Preston about 9:00 a.m. via the
Trailhead parking lot for pictures, then on to the ‘bank corner’ and out to Hwy 52. The ride will
travel via Hwy 16 to the Spring Valley Park for a morning break and leave the park at
approximately 10:30 a.m. headed to Forestville State Park for the noon stop. The afternoon fill
find the tractors returning to Preston by way of County Roads 5 and 14. They will begin arriving
back in Preston at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The Preston Historical Society announces the availability of ‘Elevator’ Bird Houses for sale. The cost is $20 for 13” tall bird house in the shape of the Preston Milwaukee Elevator. They are available in natural wood or red tint. They can be used for home decoration, wine bottle storage, or as a bird house.
